The crippling economic downturn of the past several years slowed growth in the VoIP and UC services and subscribers market, but increasing customer uptake, especially in the business segment, has fueled a solid comeback, according to a new report.

Infonetics Research said the VoIP service market reached $49.8 billion in 2010, a 43 percent increase from $34.8 billion in 2008, and forecast the the combined business and residential/SOHO VoIP services market to grow to $74.5 billion in 2015.

The company said the residential services segment remains the largest of the market at 69 percent of total revenue, but added that business VoIP services are growing at faster rates.

A highlight for 2010, Infonetics said, was the 143 percent revenue growth in SIP trunking.

Infonetics also noted that managed IP PBX business VoIP service revenue is expected to more than double from 2010 to 2015.
