Global mobile app market to hit $35 billion in 2014, says IDC

International Data Corp. projects that the number of mobile apps downloaded worldwide will grow from 10.9 billion in 2010 to 76.9 billion in 2014. That growth will equate to $35 billion in revenue in 2014.

Further, IDC said that mobile apps are moving from phones to tablets to TVs and other devices in the home.

With the proliferation of mobile apps across a wide range of devices, users can now utilize services and applications of interest for personal and/or business purposes.  These mobile applications will continue to adapt to the personal preferences of users based on calendar settings, location, presence, and other profile configurations to drive additional utility, benefit, and value to the consumer.
